This is a crucial year for our young learners as they prepare to enter Primary 1/ Grade 1. Through holistic language development emphasising phonics, reading, writing, speaking and listening, our young learners will build strong foundational skills that will give them a head-start in their language journey.
Our K2/P1 Preparatory curriculum will provide your child with competency in the following:
  • Advanced phonics instruction focusing on consonant blends, digraphs, diphthongs and vowel teams.
  • Application of phonics rules in decoding multi-syllabic words through phonics-based spelling, incorporating advanced sound patterns.
  • Mastery of sight word recognition and fluency through reading passages and activities.

1. Advanced Phonics Mastery:

  • Apply essential grammar concepts in short sentences. 
  • Construct grammatically accurate sentences to form coherent paragraphs.
  • Use pictures to create a short story.

  • Reading short passages and retrieving information to questions.
  • Guided and independent reading of Oxford Reading Tree (ORT) books, achieving reading of grade level (Level 5) and beyond. 
  • Develop interest in reading through activities such as interactive read-aloud sessions and book sharing, allowing children to foster a sense of ownership in their reading journey.
  • Exposure to new vocabulary through engaging stories and texts.
  • A thematic approach to building vocabulary based on the pre-A1 English framework.

  • Enhance fine-motor skills and Participate in group discussions and presentations to enhance pronunciation and oral fluency.
